bushfire? life on mars? apocolypse? end of the world?

All these thoughts ran through my head this morning as I woke up and looked out the window to see the entire sky, street and complete area surrounded in a reddish orange haze! I thought i was still dreaming because it literally looked like what life would be like on mars (as if i'd know right but movies and what not paint a decent picture), but upon realising I wasn't dreaming I immediately thought it was a bushfire. And as you do in a crisis situation I got on my trusty mobile phone and accessed Facebook. I was in relief to see that my area wasn't the only area covered in this weird haze.

Upon further reading of people's statuses, I laughed out loud some commenting on a possible apocolyps, end of the world, life on mars reason for what was happening outside. This got me scared but even more so excited. I'm weird that way, instead of freaking out about an attack on planet earth by aliens or zombies I start planning my getaway, what to pack in my survival pack and lame ways on how to survive! I think it's from all those movies i watch that are apocolypse related; resident evil, 28 days later, 28 weeks later, dawn of the dead, just to name a few. All these thoughts ran through my head but the first thought was that I had predicted such an even would happen..well several times and years ago. You see i've been (jokingly of course) been prediciting this since the yr2006 June 6th! So when this came to mind I immediately messaged Charise of my plans of making a survival kit. This made me laugh to myself and to add to my amusement Chung had the same ideas in mind. We spent the next hour on Facebook discussing what we'd do in the situation. This included building a bunker to hide out in, because we thought a refuge camp was out of the question because clearly if zombies did invade then a bunch of people together would be the perfect present. Along with this we also thought of bringing essential guidebooks to help us survive, these included "how to make a tent 101", "how to kill zombies 101" and "how to build a fire 101" like you know the stuff we really need to learn! We also thought that the only way to kill aliens, if they were coming instead or maybe even with the zombies, was to kill there mothership! So yeah Chung and I got a little carried away with our plans and had lots of pretty crazy ideas but nevertheless it put a smile on my face!

After turning the radio on and watching bits of the news our idea of zombie/alien invasion was dampened only to find out that this reddish/orange haze was due to an almighty, one of a kind, duststorm on the outskirts of sydney i.e. sydneys outback. The strong gusty 100km/hr winds from yesterday and lastnight had brought all the dust and debris from the outskirts into our lovely city, causing traffic and chaos for commuters all over the city as well as for people with allergies and what not. So it's a less extravagent reason but it was still pretty cool. Apparently this thing only ever happens very rarely. So we're lucky to see it in this lifetime HAHA
